The Effort

It is human nature to not get involved. The one thing I have learned the past few years is that the subject: fatalities related to intoxicated drivers is unpleasant and most would rather not go there; surprisingly, even those with children approaching driving age.

So, I have more or less given up on these people. Until the unthinkable happens to them they remain complacent with the status quo. And yet, there are a few perceptive individuals who seem to recognize the importance of this cause and have demonstrated a unique desire to become involved. There are not many, but they do exist.

What we do have in our corner, potentially anyway, are the thousands of sad, distraught and helpless people who were and are affected one way or another by the tragedy of DWI.
We are appealing to these people to step forward and express their desire to never let this happen again. We have spoken at a press conference only to realize that the media is more controlled by beverage lobbies than we could have ever imagined.

Felix Ortiz, the only politician on our side, has been portrayed by the media as a kook when he became involved. Obviously, this is not going to be an easy climb. However, if we stay the course and grow strong in number, the goal of alcohol safe vehicles will be attained.
